Pioneer Projects

Pioneer Projects

In order to graduate from Apple Valley school, you need 60 graduation points. If you want extra honors, do extra projects! Remember that neatness and careful work count. All work is due June 4th.

Group A (required)done in school

· Report – 40 points

Group B (pick one) - done on your own time

· Write a short story from the point of view of your Apple Valley school character. You can be traveling on the prairie, building a house or in school. Your story should be 3 paragraphs long and checked for spelling. 10 points

· Make a diorama of a one-room schoolhouse. Use information from “Apple Valley School” to get ideas for furniture, etc. 10 points

· Read a teacher-approved book about a pioneer boy, girl or family. Complete an “Independent Reading Report” for it and present it to the class. 10 points

Group C (pick two) - done on your own time

· Early Pioneers Worksheet 5 points

· Settling the Far West Worksheet 5 points

· Pioneer Village Worksheet 5 points

· Pioneer word search 5 points

Don’t forget – every day that we do the Apple Valley School during Social Studies, we will check in for points and each take a Fate card!

Oh…and your graduation from 4th grade is not dependent upon your graduation from the Apple Valley School.
